Summary
Working with Highways and Street Lighting Teams, the Chester High Road, (A540) has been identified for a potential tree & hedgerow planting scheme as part of a wider planting programme for the borough. Seven locations along the A540 between Hinterton Road and Two Mills have been identified which have capacity for further tree & hedge provision. Planting locations are within the highway verge or central reservation.
In summary, the scheme consists of 392 native trees plus 600 linear metres of hedgerows. Funding can be accessed to implement this scheme, helping to ‘green up’ the highway would visually enhance this important gateway, provide some biodiversity benefits as well as contributing towards the council’s collective approach in address climate change by increasing its tree coverage across the borough.

Next steps
Submission of funding application December, If successful, actual planting would take place in January/February 2022.
Public and partner comments are invited by Friday 3 December.
