Community Infrastructure Levy Draft Charging Schedule consultation

The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is a planning charge on new housing, residential extensions over 100m2 and retail development over 100m2 that can be used by Local Authorities to help deliver infrastructure to support the development of their area.

The Council has now produced a Draft Charging Schedule for the proposed introduction of CIL. This sets out the level of CIL charge which is considered to be viable in different parts of the borough. A draft Regulation 123 list has also been prepared setting out the potential infrastructure types and projects to be funded through CIL.

Comments are invited on the Draft Charging Schedule and accompanying documents by 5pm on Friday 19 August. The accompanying documents include economic evidence supporting the proposed charging level and documents explaining what discretionary relief from the levy will be allowed.

Representations on the Draft Charging Schedule must be received no later than 5pm on Friday 19 August 2016 and must be submitted in writing. There are a number of ways that you can do this:

Any organisation or individual may request the right to be heard at the Examination or to be notified about submission of the Charging Schedule, publication of the examiners recommendations and approval of the Charging Schedule. This request must be submitted in writing and received within the specified consultation period of 7 July to 5pm on Friday 19 August.
