Chester History and Heritage consultation

Chester History and Heritage is a local and family history resource based at the History Hub at the Grosvenor Museum in Chester. It supports family and local history research through its expert staff and volunteers.  The service also provides free access to popular online family history resources such as Find My Past and Ancestry and administers events such as Heritage Open Days across Cheshire West and Chester. The Museum welcomes over 80,000 visitors each year and provides a large audience for Chester History and Heritage. The team is keen to widen its reach and find ways to improve access, bringing the service into different buildings and sharing its exhibitions with more locations across Chester and the wider borough.


We want to gather your views about this service to help us enhance what we offer to residents and visitors to Cheshire West.

This consultation with service users and potential users will help to develop the future look and feel of the service. It will make sure that all of the most valued aspects of the service are maintained and new ideas are explored. The consultation will run for 12 weeks, starting on 23 July and finishing on 14 October 2018.

What are we consulting on?

The consultation seeks to identify and explore new opportunities for the service and:
  • Make suggestions to help improve the serviceake suggestions to help improve the service
  • Give opinions on different ways of working and
  • ive views on how the service should be delivered in the future.

Paper copies of the survey are available at The History Hub @the Grosvenor Museum, Cheshire Record Office, Duke Street Chester and Chester Castle (on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 27 July to 16 September).

How your feedback will be used

Following the consultation, results will be available on the council’s website and at the Grosvenor Museum, and the conclusions will then be used to inform future service planning.
