Raising obje​ctions

Local electors can also make objections to anything about which the Auditor could take action under section 17 (which deals with unlawful expenditure) of the Audit Commission Act 1998. Objections may also be raised about any matter in respect of which the auditor could make a report under section 8 of the Act.

To make an objection, write to the auditor setting out the objection and the grounds on which you are making it.

  • The Council's accounts for the financial year ending on 31 March 2012 were open for public inspection from 2 July to 27 July. The public were able to inspect and make copies of the accounts and other related documents from 2 July to 27 July 2012.
  • The audit of the 2011-12 Statement of Accounts commenced on 2 July 2012. From 30 July to the completion of the audit, local electors or their representatives can ask the auditor questions about the accounts.

  • The Audit of the 2011-12 Accounts of Cheshire West and Chester Council and Cheshire Pension Fund have been completed in accordance with the Audit Commission Act 1998 and the Accounts and Audit (England) Regulations 2011.

    Access to the sign​ed audited accounts

    Local electors can inspect and make written copies or take a written extract from the signed statement of accounts every Monday to Friday between 10am and 4pm. Photocopies of the signed statements can also be provided but there will be a fee for this service.
