Frodsham Air Quality Action Plan Consultation

Closing date 28 July 2017

Cheshire West and Chester Borough Council wishes to consult with the residents, businesses and other key stakeholders within and around Frodsham, in connection with the Fluin Lane Air Quality Management Area.  An Action Plan has been produced which proposes a range of measures to improve air quality.

The Consultation period will run from Friday 5 May 2017 to Friday 28 July 2017.

Background information

Cheshire West and Chester Council has been monitoring air pollution levels in and around Frodsham and particularly Fluin Lane for a number of years.  The Council declared an Air Quality Management Area on 26 November 2015 due to elevated levels of the pollutant nitrogen dioxide.  The main source of the pollution is traffic emissions and the council have been exploring measures to reduce these emissions.

The Council are required to formulate an Action Plan to address this air quality issue and appointed a consultant, Atkins, to undertake this work.  This work was concluded in April and the consultants produced a report recommending that further consideration is given to a series of measures that may improve local air quality at Fluin Lane.
